The Arvin Police Department started a very active Law Enforcement Explorer Program in late 1972. The program is open to male and female youth between the ages of fourteen and twenty. The Explorers learn many skills to prepare them for law enforcement or related careers.

Activities
Regular Explorer activities include a ride-along program and assignments to assist in community events.
Eligible Members
Arvin Police Department Explorers must be of above-average intelligence, must be in good physical condition, have an average school grade of 2.5, or higher, and have no serious criminal history. All Explorers must pass an oral interview and stringent background investigation prior to being admitted. Once accepted, Explorers must learn to function as part of a team.
